Job Description
United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to conduct research in the area of embedded systems and artificial intelligence for biomedical applications. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Atef in the Electrical and Communication Engineering Department, starting in August 2026, in a full-time, on-site PhD position. The PhD candidate will be responsible for designing and synthesizing AI models for FPGA implementation or MCU deployment, participating in high-quality research projects under professional supervision, publishing research in high-impact journals, and presenting results at international conferences. Eligibility Criteria: - Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline, with both BSc and MSc cumulative GPAs of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent. - Required qualifications include experience with microcontroller units (MCU) and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA), strong motivation, initiative, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively within an international research team.
