ADB–Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) – AIT
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a national of an ADB borrowing member country
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record
- Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience (after graduation)
- Be proficient in English
- IELTS Academic: 6.0
- TOEFL: ≥ 550
- AIT EET: ≥ 6.0
- Be 35 years old or below (up to 45 in exceptional cases)
- Be in good health
- Agree to return to home country after completing studies
Selection Criteria
- Ranking by AIT
- Minimum 2 years work experience required
- Preference to:
- Women candidates
- Lower financial capacity applicants
- Family income ≤ USD 50,000/year
- Individual income ≤ USD 25,000/year
- Focus on fields aligned with ADB Strategy 2030
(Infrastructure, environment, finance, education, poverty reduction)Required Documents

- Income statement (self + spouse/parents)
- Latest tax return or salary certification
- ADB-JSP Information Sheet
Application Procedure
- Apply for admission to AIT (Designated Institution).
- Indicate interest in ADB-JSP Scholarship.
- Submit all required documents to AIT.
- AIT screens and ranks applicants.
- ADB reviews and approves final awardees.
- Successful candidates sign scholarship acceptance.

Duration
- 1–2 years (maximum 2 years)
- Renewal for second year based on performance
- No transfer to other institutions
- Must return home and work for at least 2 years
